Then you should whitelist alert@chess.com. It's not chess.com's fault if the message was sent. You should have checked the spam folder. I think that on those grounds, it's highly unlikely that the game can continue (not that it was likely anyway but still Smile).

Well, you probably just rely on yourself more, and be a bit more responsible.  Like, I myself, I have 42 games going on, which is a lot for me, so put this big markerboard up on the wall in my house and have each game listed by opponent and last move made.  The ones where its my turn I have marked with a big red star.
