I have been elected, by myself, and it was unanimous, to judge who should be crowned CHESS.COM MEMBER OF THE YEAR. Yes, a lofty prize, and a heightened feeling, although momentary, of self-worth will be awarded to the winner. If shipping conditions are favorable, the winner will also receive 4 (four) pounds of Louisiana squash. (Because I hate squash and need to get rid of some.) I will only judge a predetermined and double secret number of posts after this one, then I will announce the WINNER.

No flattery of me will get you anywhere - it will get you everywhere.

Be sure to list off the chessy reasons YOU should be crowned CHESS.COM MEMBER OF THE YEAR.

I shall respond as quickly as possible to all entries here on this forum topic.

Let the pageant BEGIN!!!

No question about it...Batgirl.  Intelligent answers to questions; for example within hours after I posted something about a particuliar chess book she had a detailed analysis of the book.  She is analytical; her comments indicate she takes issues seriously and is not afraid to express her feelings.  At the same time, she is polite and will always make sure her comments were not intended to be negative.

I agree, Batgirl is a much needed part of this website, and your nomination will be noted. HOWEVER - the pageant rules STATE - Be sure to list off the chessy reasons YOU should be crowned CHESS.COM MEMBER OF THE YEAR.

That is all.

Me. Well because I'm me!

Further I've been known not to suffer fools gladly but I don't think that should be held against me. AND StacyBearden remember we are now allies in the freestyle thingy. (Does that count for anything?)

Furthermore I've always been a HUGE fan of you posts. You're even on my tracked activity list. AND, AND I'll come to your hometown to sort out your Louisiana squash problem. I'll carry it on my back out of your sight and smell and taste range???

Will that do? Come on give ME the crown! Let's just stop this suffering and give it to me!

King William: your qualifications are immaculate. Your trip to Louisiana is noted. Your tracking me is noted. Your freestyle jiggywitit partnership is of much reknown. HOWEVER! - the pageant MUST continue to be fair to all those in chess.com membershipdom. Just to let you know, you are now the front runner! Congratulations!

That is all.

I really like Batgirl. Her posts are entertaining and informative. If there were such a prize though, I would like the winner to be someone that provides excellent analysis repeatedly around the site, on games, openings, endgames, puzzles, etc. I definitely like the majority of Likesforests posts in this respect. I am sure there are other members that do a great job. This would be an essential part to my ideal member. Someone that leaves entertaining posts, but is also found, time and again, leaving excellent posts of lines, specific tactics, positional considerations, etc.

yeah, i agree it must be Batgirl, i read and reread her posts and can not help myself to admire her versatility in expressing her thoughts. Though i don't comments on her posts because everything is there already. "hope this is a chessy reason for her to be crowned".

Yum...Squash

1.    I love squash.

2.    Shipping cost to  Georgia will be cheap.

3.    I am a poor and starving college student that would benefit greatly from some         good food.

4.     Oh...and I love chess.

OK I admit it...I am not really interested in the title...just the squash.

ALERT...ALERT...ALERT...  TODAY'S RESULTS...

I fully agree that Batgirl is a fine choice for this prestigious award. However, here are the ratings for today...and rememer, the race is NOT over.

Front runner: Myershill (because of his love for squash, I can eat less.)

2nd: King William (you should have commented more on the squash.)

A close 2nd: Batgirl (although she has posted NOTHING yet about herself, and those are the rules to win.)

3rd: Likesforests (see Batgirl's parenthetical.)

4th: Gillisloose (because I can.)

5th: Guitar Man 03 (can you really include yourself if you say someone else should win? Sure you can! This is my competition.)

NOTE: There will only be 5 (five) positions placed here, and very randomly since I'm wasting time at work doing this. Please also note that this is a silly forum topic, so nominations should be silly. Please thirdly note that the front runner had the silliest nomination.

That is all.

What is "Louisiana Squash" ? If it is what I suspect close to be pumpkin? (Herbert squash?) then I will politely decline the title. I will however second King William's nomination. (ps. I am also from the Free State, born there what can I say, good people them free staters:)

Just squash from Lousiana. By the way, you may want to post that in the "Louisiana Squash" forum. Not the sport, the vegetable. This forum is for CHESS.COM MEMBER OF THE YEAR nominations run by me, StacyB. Thank you for seconding King Williams' nomination, HOWEVER, one can only nominate one's self - per the rules of this pageant. (I like the word pageant. It makes this a bit more silly.) If you would like to nominate yourself, please study the previous posts and be careful. You wouldn't want to disqualify yourself. (Ominous laugh resonating from this IP address.)

That is all.

Well frankly, im shocked and outraged that my name hasnt been mentioned before!!!

I play chess, come up with controversial topics (until Erik put a stop it anyhow), have by far the best avatar on this site, as well as the best name.

Batgirl and all the rest of the so-called "contenders" are in biscuit terms, a simple digestive, wheras i am a chocolate covered Hobnob, thats a premium biscuit for the less savvy of you out there.

Vote me for member of the year, you know it makes sense

NEW RANKINGS...

Front runner: Pimpingpawnage (the avatar got this spot. )

2nd: Myershill (because of his love for squash, I can eat less.)

3rd: King William (you should have commented more on the squash.)

4th: Batgirl (although she has posted NOTHING yet about herself, and those are the rules to win.)

5th: Likesforests (see Batgirl's parenthetical.)

Although this is no voting, your campaigning is noted, Pimpingpawnage. Noted well.
