I can't wait until we start seeing 960 games posted by our top players here - IM Dupress is in one and I see Gonnosuke started one too.

Will they be "postable"? I'd really like to see a thread discussing high rated 960 games and the thought processes of the players.

I have a question about chess 960. How is castling handled by the software?

in order to castle, you move your king two squares right or two squares left- regular rules apply (i.e. no pieces in between, not through check, etc.)

then your king gets lined up like regular castling (king on g1/g8) kingside and rook on f1/f7, (king on c1/c8 rook on d1/d8) for queenside

very confusing, but yet fun to play

I understand the rules for castling (having just looked them up), I was curious about how to actually do it with the software. I ask because I just started a game where my king started on f1 and rook on g1, and I believe I should have been able to play 1.0-0, but moving my king (or rook) to its square of destination didn't work (as a note, I didn't actually want to castle anyway, but was testing out the software). So you're saying that I should have plopped my king on the h1 square, currently occupied by a knight? That seems strange. Furthermore, if that's correct, how would you castle kingside with a king on g1 and rook on h1? If I'm reading you correctly, you'd need to move your king to i1...

There has to be atleast one square between rook and king for castling. If the king and rook are side by side, then the other rook must be used to castle

Every article I've ever read about chess960 suggests otherwise...

sorry kohai, not true. if you want to castle there are 3 ways:

- move your king on to the rook with which you want to castle,

- move your king over 2 squares,

- move your king to the destination castling square (on the c file or g file)

Surely the addition of 960 warrants a news article or something on the main page, no?

Can you castle in 960 in chess.com? I know in real 960 you can, but I'm not sure if it lets me on chess.com. I know you probably know the rules for castling in it, but here is the article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_960

Erik and staff! Could you create a general 960 Vote Chess? This could be exciting from the first move and show everyone what's the whole idea about.
