Nuclear war chess bunker

I think it would be a brilliant idea to build an underground chess bunker incase of a worst case scenario. Where the worlds chess players could go to, to carry on and preserve this great game?

Yeah I am. The brainiest people in the world are chess players, so it should be only right that we get the chance to carry on to build greater things. We could have simuls and a vast chess library down there. It could be used for other disasters too like earthquakes, hurricanes and other acts of god.

The football bunker guys would just come over and knock pieces around and tweak nerd noses, and steal any good looking women.

    False statement.

    unsubstantiated leap of logic.

    Weird fantasy.

Its a possibility with the financial backing of government.

I'd prefer the simpler solution of preventing the nuclear war in the first place. Smile

Wonder which supermodels you plan on  kidnapping + bringing with us to procreate with and ensure the survival of our brain-iest species?   Assuming you didn't factor this into your design plans, I'd be extremely worried about how you'd "maintain the tension".

And, for optimum procreation the ratio of females to males should be 10 to 1.

A full scale launch everything nuclear war is unlikely, however...it's entirely possible that one or two devices will be delivered to the USA in the next 10 years courtesy of one or another terrorist group.

Scary thought, since a certain US president thinks the appropriate response would be for the USA to apologize to those who nuked us. 2012 can't get here soon enough.

    We were nuked???

    We apologized?

Cherry 2000 would work for me, although I saw some slightly used stepford wives on ebay the other day.

Are you kidding, you would want to spend the rest of your life in a bomb shelter with women? Sooner or later claustraphobia will set in, and you'll run outside to escape despite the radiation.

Well... where are all the children in 50 years?

If we have a nuclear war much worse problems exist than preserving chess. However if people were living in bunkers to avoid the radiation I'm sure they would naturally play some games of chess as well as cards.

I'd prefer to keep it old school with some table-top D&D.

"You find yourself in a 40x20 ft underground bunker ... a reinforced steel door is all that separates you from the ghastly effects of radiation fallout on the surface ... oh, waitasecond ... that's us right now. FML!"

I see nothing wrong in planning for the inevitable end of the world. The glass IS half empty, and the word entropy does come to mind, not to be confused with the Second Law of Thermodynamics. I don't want to get a bunch of physicists all worked up. Laughing
