NM Reb would like to give chess.com premium members a chance to play a game against a master. He will be playing simultaneously against up to 100 members in echess!

The matches will start on the same day, once we receive sufficient registrations. The time control will be 2 days per move.

To participate: one should be rated under 1200. Just post to this forum saying that you want to play (that way we will know when we have enough players). Then look out for an announcement (in this forum) when it is time to start the game, and issue your challenge to Reb.

Now I wish I weren't going on vacation for two weeks starting on Saturday. I think I'd be able to contribute another 50 or so games!

Under 1200?  This is going to hurt the master's long term focal preperation when he plays a decent player???  Reb, I wouldn't mind playing you unrated, because then it won't be a lose, lose situation for you.

THIS IS MEANT TO HELP THOSE OF US THAT DON'T HAVE HIGH RATINGS. THIS IS TO BE A LEARNING EXPERIENCE! WE SHOULD ALL BE SO LUCKY TO HAVE ANY MASTER CHESS PLAYER TO OFFER THIS! I FOR ONE WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS.

we are not quite ready for live simuls yet. we will do one once we are ready!

anyone under 1200 posting here that they want to play, is considered registered. but you will have to pay attention and issue a challenge to Reb at the right time.

To be quite honest, no offense should be taken, but wouldn't a game against an intermediate player be of more value?  If I was an 800 player, I wouldn't know how to analyze a game versus Reb.  I know I am a skunk compared to a titled player, but does that make me bad at chess?  Titled players represent(I believe 0.01% of all people who know how to play chess.  Everyone's perceptions of what good and what bad are all individual beliefs.  My opinion, if I take a collective whole of people who play chess, I am a strong intermediate. If I am playing a titled player, I am a beginner.  I'm only basing this from chess.com's bell curve.

Wouldn't playing those who are intermediates be better than those who play move to move with a blindfold on their eyes two moves ahead?

In a rated game Reb will not gain any ratings points for a win against a player rated less than 1200.

It is not beyond the realm of possibility some opponents may draw or win and Reb would lose ratings points.
