I'm not sure I understand what your point is. You ran out of vacation time and lost some games on time? The site has malfunctioned in your case and you are angry? What's the gag?

Ouch! I've never seen that issue before; if I understand correctly you tried to change your status from "vacation" to "active" and the change didn't seem to work (you couldn't make a move) but then your game timed out (surprising with auto-protection).

Maybe click "Report Bugs" at the bottom of the page or post in "Help & Support". Also, if you saved any error message(s), I'm sure that would help the staff to debug.

This happened to me also on the very first game I ever timed out on, I reported it, asked for help and heard nothing, in fact none of the bug reports I have made outside the forums have ever been resolved or even acknowledged.

Vasan,

don't you think you are being a little melodramatic? If the game you refer to, is the one against GOWWL, then you were lost anyway, you will be a piece down against strong opposition.... that's curtains at this level, fellah! (after 28 .... Rxb6, 29 Nd5 wins your knight on c6). So to sum up, you unjustly lost a single game due to technical reasons, that any reasonable person (at 2000+ level) would have resigned anyway. Or is my assessment of the position incorrect? Pull yourself together friend and play chess! Smile

Ray.

Vasan,

I understand your annoyance at unjustly losing on time, however, the position in the game in question is completely lost (not a matter of opinion as you say, a matter of fact). If I am incorrect then please post the tactic/strategy that saves you, because I just can't see it. You lost a game you were going to lose anyway, big deal! Certainly "quiting in disgust" under the circumstances seems melodramatic by any definition I understand. Or was this topic only supposed to attract opinion that coincided with your own?

I sincerely hope that the Staff manage to sort something out for you (I look forward to following your clever play that will save the position). It's not my intention to add to your annoyance, merely to inject a little realism.

Ray.

I just accept nothing is perfect and sometimes crap happens, you deal with it and move on. I could gripe about the games i have lost due to disconnects but that wont help anything. I understand that these things happen and they have probably happened at least once or more to everyone on this site. Chess.com has at no time ever claimed to operate flawlessly. I know it sux more for you because you are a paying member and are supposed to be protected, but consider how many paying members use this site everyday without a hitch most of the time. Eric has said this site is a work in progress and not to get bent out of shape about every little thing that goes wrong cause if you do chances are you wont be having very much fun here.
