Hi to all!

Here's another query to all co-members who knows the answer...

Re:  How many point deduction on ones rating if the player loses by a check-mate and if he/she loses by a resignation?

Thanks and your answers will be very much appreciated.

Doesn't make any difference at all, a loss is a loss

It depends on the rating of your opponent. The deduction is exactly the same for resignation and check mate though.

Yes, checkmate or resigning is counted in the same way, a loss. To see more information on how the rating system works you should go to http://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-ratings---how-they-work

You can check to see your adjustment during a game. On the right, go to details and click on rating adjustment and it'll show you how much you will change for awin loss or draw.

Either check-mate or resignation is considered the same for a loss; the only difference is the rating of the opponent from the start of the game.
