Ratings change after a 1-move game

Many times, I've had a game end after 2, 3, or 4 moves (through time-out or resignation) and got a notice, "Game was too short to affect ratings."  But the other day I quit a game after 1 move (just decided not to play that one) and my rating dropped 31 points!  I sent a query to chess.com and they said that's the policy.  Has it changed?  If there was a change, why wasn't it announced?  Where would you go to find out the policy?  I know, I know, I'll eventually bob up to my correct rating, but it's a little irksome to be artificially low like this.  Any thoughts from big chess.com honchos or regular dogs would be welcome.

I just aborted a game after one move about 10 minutes ago and my rating stayed the same....Go figure!

I just had 2, one 4 move and one 5 move my opponent timed out and my rating went up 23 each game, I dont know what the rule is but the adjustment amount also has something to do with your game played to rating ratio so everyone will be different. I have not played many games on this site so I think mine will move more until my game count goes up, its designed to get you to your actual rating as quick as possible.

There is a new unannounced policy.

In post #8 here, artfizz speculates about how ratings are affected by the various ways a game can end.

Generally, chess.com seems transparent in their policies (& I'm a happy member, generally).  Why is the early-resignation-ratings-impact policy not announced?  Especially since it has clearly changed.  It's a minor issue, but I miss my 31 rating points!

Did you resign the game or did you abort it?

I resigned it--after you make any move at all, the abort button goes away.  (I had made one move, then noticed my opponent had 1295 active games, & averaged 10 hours per move, & I felt like playing a regular person rather than a Guinness Book of Records contender.)  A couple of months ago, when a player made a blunder in move 2 or 3, I suggested that if he resigned it wouldn't affect his ratings--and he resigned, and it didn't, so I thought the same would be true for me.  That's how I know the policy changed.

According to the Artfizz's table (referenced in #5 above), if I had just waited for my game to time out, it wouldn't have affected my rating.  That's weird!  I hate having zombie games in my current games list (though I doubt my opponent, with 1294 other games to worry about, would have noticed).

I considered writing this exact same topic.  Resign after one move, lose points.

Seems silly, since I don't think my king is in jeopardy after 1.d4 g7.

I resigned out of courtesy as well.  I could have left the board hanging till the game timed out and not lost points, but it seemed cleaner for all involved to resign and get the game out of the way.

I lost all of 1 point  lol  but I thought losing points after one move was bizarre, given that other games "don't count" if they are under 4(?) moves.
