Hey, first on the members point list! If only that were my chess rating! haha. Of course all the credit goes to Erik though, he does all the hard stuff! I am just the behind the scenes guy. Smile

This is fantastic! It gives the ratings a lot more meaning (to me anyway).

That's an awesome feature, makes me feel better about my rating. Interesting how it's almost a perfect bell curve. Does this indicate starting rating should be 1300?

I'm probably looking some very obvious link, but where is the PLAYERS page of echess? I have been looking under Members, can't find it there. Can't find anything that's called Players or something similar.

Also when live chess started I could not find a link/button anywhere, not even under "play chess online".

Can someone with better eyesight direct me please?

Go to My Home -> Online chess

On the right under Play Chess is a players link

How often is the graph and these stats recalculated?

erik, shouldn't the top of the curve(or average) be at 1500, but i guess that will go closer to 1500 with time?

I don't think a beginner should be rated as an average player. They should definitely not be at 1500.

I am 26th out of 60,000 people in member points, and I don't really feel like I do all that much here. I guess that is why it still feels like a close knit community even though there are so many people here.

i know when i played in the USCF they adjusted their ratings at least once while  i  was  a  member(4  yrs.)  to bring the average rating(or top of the curve) to 1500(aka middle of the road). PS: i do like the chart but it's usually your basic bell curve(or close).

why not, we're all going to get where we're going(ratings-wise)? how does one know if a newbie to the site is a beginner or a GM, unless we'd give the option to select our own starting rating? if you start everyone newbie at 1500 the ratings(chart) would be more balanced & representive for the entire community(site members playing [turn-based or other] chess).

I have to say that 1500 is not an average rating. It is just 1500 and nothing more :).
