Did the commentators just gave a line in which white is checked and a few moves later white also castles???
Gelfand looks like he is in pain after Ne3
Some of the lines houdini looks at aren't worth even looking at. Strange
Looks like Anand wont be castling.
Gosh what on earth is Anand playing?
Looks like the queens are coming off early. Whites pawn structure is superior?
Yeah, he's down the bishop pair though so they are hard to attack.
This is a good game!
Yeah, took the knight giving Gelfand doubled c-pawns.
I saw Anand going 1.e4 here...but never seen this variation before.
Clearly, Anand wanted to move away from long known lines, and test Gelfand's fighting chess skills. The surprise however, is that Gelfand is moving as though he is playing white...
It's a good idea for Anand to get the game out of book quickly so he can rely on his natural playing strength.
I really thought that this should have been his strategy from the beginning...since this is where he is said to have the advantage.
Goes to show how much book Gelfand knows.
Should be a sharp, interesting game
The position is very complex. There are so many ways to go, that it's hard to think of what they will do next. I have the Houdini evaluation box turned off for this game
Anand has a bit of a time advantage early on.
...yes, Gelfand's book must be very heavy indeed...
Good idea to have Houdini off! With Houdini on, it's a bit like watching a movie knowing the ending.
