right Ne4, would be the plan of course, i guess the question is what white has after nd5-b4.
Nd5 ????? What Gelfand has in his mind ?
I got it why Gelfand played Nd5. If Vishy playes Ne4 then Nb4 putting pressure on c2 pawn
After 17 moves, it seems the very critical part of the game is upon us.
i kind of wish we saw the plan of a3 and b4, or probably my misguided idea of pushing my a pawn to eternity. the one thing in white's favor is that the be7 is not likely a happy piece in the endgame.
he played Nd5,to go Nb4 if Anand plays Ne4.
not likely a happy piece in the endgame
He he which piece is happy in the end game ? Only pawns because they can become queen
What's wrong with the be7 petrosianic?
I think Anand's going to win this game
It does look ominous, but that knight on b4 is a pain isn't it?
Spot on chris ...
I just think Anand will do a3, maybe after Bc1.
Don't think that b-file is going to be opened anytime soon though.
Ooh yes I didn't even see that possibility.
anand can undouble with c3, gelfand can't.
but then you could argue, cxd4 cxd4 straightens the doubled pawns.
Doesn't c3 weaken d3 badly?
White now has a permanent small advantage- probably not enough to win, but still Gelfand's decision to take on c4 was odd.
