A few weeks ago Keyif came up with a fresh idea for a chess.com group and founded the Black Shield Assassins. I was fortunate to be involved from day one and he asked me to write an Assassins' manual.
I felt a bit intimidated by the task because, as any of my opponents can tell you, I'm no genius. However, I tossed the idea around and today published what I expect will be Volume I on the BSA group site.
It covers topics like:
Unfortunately you won't be able to read most of it without joining the Black Shield Assassins but since two topics (Terminate with Extreme Prejudice and Ambush) link to Le blog de la Batgirl you can read them there. In fact, you SHOULD read them there. In the right hand column of her blog, batgirl lists 23 advanced mates and a great number of extremely practical traps.
Those two posts in her blog are not only amongst the most interesting items I've read on chess.com, they are amongst the most useful. If I was in the marketing business I would promote them by saying, "Reading these posts will improve your rating".
I'm not certain what the recruitment situation is in the Black Shield Assassins just now because our target membership is intended to cut off at 200, but if you want to join it might be worth a try.
I tried to join, but it's invite only! Please, can you help me out, I'm looking for a good group to join. The others don't seem to have as much detail and participation like the Black Sheild Assasins.
