I have posted this before and I feel it is time once again for this much needed warning. Please forgive if you have seen this already and do not need it but newbies are here all the time and some other members may need this reminder. And a few new friends of mine may need this at the present time
Getting permanently burned out by being overwhelmed with too many games is a real danger at chess.com. At least one member in my group Fast Tournaments revealed to me he was starting to feel this burnout and now he has not logged on for over 5 months and timed out of all his games when his vacation was used up. He had about 85 GIPs when this started for him. And I know of other members who also got burned out when overwhelmed with too games games and never played online chess here again. When you have many moves to make in your games and it starts to feel like a chore to make them, instead of being fun, this is what I call "burnout". I have experienced this myself at times and now try to limit my games so I don't feel it. Though recently I experienced it again due to a lot of tourneys which went to the next round all at the same time, thus giving me too many games. And my real life also got busy when this happened. So please try to limit your games so we don't lose too many playing members due to this danger. Just a friendly warning, you can of course just ignore it if you wish.
Thanks for the warning Karl. I can identify with this, and will take your advice on board.
I almost never have more than 10 games in progres, when i do i cannot play at lets say higher level, and i lose to much games. When i have about 5-6 GIP than i can heve up to 10 wins in a row...
Good advice Karl, thanks again
GREAT ADVICE.
i have felt this, that is why i no longer belong to any groups and am sorta pissed that i won a lewg of a tourney and now have 4 new gmes going. my life IS busy right now and have slowed down dramatically. I resigned a lot of games due to burnout twice already in one year. thank god I have stayed playing because it is challenging and relaxing.
