unfortunately doing that would probably decrease non-member traffic on the site.  i think they've made some restrictions though.

i think this is a price worth paying.  initially there would be a bit of fall-out but ultimately it would make chess.com a better place to play.  and the nice ones would probably sac(k) up and pay.  more money for big brother...

Photray, my friend, I appreciate the sentiment, but things have changed in both of our absence. The quality of posters is markedly diminished - you're trying to save what is already tarnished. These days you'd be lucky to find a single interesting thread in the poor trash heap of these forums. I suspect it's largely due to groups - the real friendly camaraderie goes on in those secret niches, while the forums proper is left to remarkably pureile, juvenile, pablum.

Don't let it get you upset or defensive good sir, better yet, let it go altogether - leave the fools to frolick, pick a friendly group and make a point to increase the quality of the threads therein.

This place is beyond saving - and I should know, having once been one of it's most fevrent organizers... trust me.

hah.  finally a serious response.  i'll take your advice Rael.  good to know someone can be articulate out here.  but i get what your saying.  a lot has changed since i was last here, before we only dealt with the occasional troll and now... well, i think you know what i mean

 A thread which is worthy of serious answers will get them from me.

The only serious thing I can say in this thread is quit whining.  As in everything there are good, bad and in between. Get over it.  It is a good life lesson to  learn how to deal with difficult people.  You will work with and for many of them in your life

Photray, meet erikido23, a great example of the wonderful new attitude on chess.com. Isn't he cute?

Yes, you too, can have the honored distinction of taking part in threads with friendly gentlemen like erikido23.

Oh yes, we should all be so lucky.

~~~~~~
p.s. would someone PLEASE make a thread WORTHY or erikido23? I really need to see what he's like when he gets SERIOUS.
...and I thought all the drama was on the Chessaholics Group.  Yes there are some immature young people here.  That's life.
My advice is if someone is bugging you, just message them personally and take your discussion off the posts.  Say what you have to say to that person.  I have done that and they have never bothered me again.
i've tried to work up nice posts in the past, tried to be thoughtful, tried to share quality games I may have played in between my heap of patzerdome, but it usually ends up as threadkill or getting less reads than other quality topics such as 'Does Akiko have 12 profiles?' or other such madness. Sadly, the masses, acting in a democratic fashion, will so often create gigantic piles of human brain slop (think Jerry Springer folks). unfortunately, even on a free web site, there is a real problem censoring content due to everyone's 'right' to free speech, even if they chose to poop right on the forum some garbage about which mental midget hurt their feelings today. Rael is correct, find a group, preferably with members like him (awesome dude), and leave the main pages stewing in their own mental waste.
If you would like to see what is worthy of a serious response then just go ahead and click on my profile.  I could even do all the work for you if you would like.
Why is it that the people that claim to be appalled (SP?) at (insert poor manners or sportsmanship or etc here) always the most defensive/aggressive.
I was trying to be helpful in the last post.  It really isn't worthy of responding to seriously (which he readily admitted in the first post when he said the complaining about others actions needs to stop.  WHich I completely agree with him) other than what I stated  in the previous post.
Now quit fuming.
And I'm pregnant with ilikeflags' love child! GASP.
And, and, and...!
So the forum autopsy will read : death by choking on licorice. Time of death: sometime shortly after the death of hip-hop and MTV. Oh well. I'm off to the 7-11 for some licorice, you guys want anything?
