Count the number of geek categories you fall under from the chart below to determine your "geek number." Mine is: TREK + COMICS + FILM + TRAVEL + FITNESS + BOOK + COLLECTIBLE + HISTORY = 8 , which is not that high.

Ranking of geekery according to popularity, up to bjazz's post #15:

    BOOK 4 instances

    HISTORY 4

    SPELLING/GRAMMAR 3

    FILM 3

    FOOD 3

    TREK 2

    COMICS 2

    TRAVEL 2

    FITNESS 1

    COLLECTIBLE 1

    TV 1

    JEDI 1

    NINTENDO 1

    ANIME 1

There's got to be someone in the "tech" cluster, i.e. portable + robot + photo + electronics etc., who will top my number.

    Jedi + Nintendo + Film + Anime + History = 5.

They misspelled "collectible," so I'm a spelling geek at least.

I don't know if just knowing how to cook makes for a geek, but in that vein:

    Trek+Comics+Book+Food=4

I'll add "SPELLING" as a new category...

Okay. Only five geeks out of over 3 Million members ?  I know you geeks are shy, but this is ridiculous.

Bahahaha, if it makes you feel any better, I would like to add "spelling/grammar" to my count. :)

    No chess geek?

sports, film, book, cook.  Maybe tv, anime, depending on how stringent the definitions are.

    Oh, and definitely spelling.

"Chess" is a given. If you find your way to this forum and post, you are a chess geek.

Good find, dannyhume. Doesn't the guy in a black T-Shirt look like Magnus Carlsen?

Wow, I never realized that Carlsen is not a geek, but rather a wad!!

Maybe that is why there is no "chess geek" in those lovely water-color pictures opening this thread...chess may in fact fit better under a wad system of classification, though previously I would have thought it more accurately under a geek or nerd system of classification.

I need a more clear definition of what a geek is in this system. For example, I frequently read articles about robotics, but I have never built one and don't really want to try. Does that qualify me as a robot geek or not?

    Wow! That's neat!
