hi all!!. I just want to start a topic about the trophies that chess.com provides to all of us. are they good? have you received or given any trophy to someone? when do you give one? and the most important question I have: what is the most fun trophy in chess.com? my vote is for the one about the good defense.

also if you want try to come up with new trophy ideas!!!!

I wish there were more trophies written from the perspective of a humble winner (i.e. trophies that acknowledge the game was close, offer encouragement etc.).  It seems like most trophies are designed to be handed out by losing participant.  I suspect this one reason why the generic "Good Game" is used so much.

I ALWAYS give my opponent a trophy after a game (unless it timed out).  I recieve a trophy about a third of the time.

I also agree that there needs to be more "humble winner" trophies.  Some of the ones I use besides "Good Game" are "Good Sportsmanship," "Exhausting Game," "Mental Relaxation, "Game Imprint," or "Knight Virtuoso" (only cuz it's a picture of a Dark Knight (and therefore my favorite trophy Wink)).

Someone just gave me a "Strikingly Strong Play" trophy, with the attendant picture of a bowling ball hitting pins. It was my first, and a very pleasant surprise. It propogates respect, I was quite moved that someone who I had just beaten would appreciate my good play. It's a great feature, and I intend to give trophies from now on.

yeah, I also agree that there should be prizes for humble winnings. some like the already mentioned. HOWEVER, there also should be some prizes to really toot your horn. these can be used with people that u already know quite well and can laugh at them :). something like "next time play checkers or solitaire".

I like the trophies.  Sometimes "Good game" is just not enough.  I tend to give them if their is fun conversation during the game (often the sportsmanship one) or if the game is a tight fight.  Also I'll give one to anyone rated lower than I am that beats me.

Hi. You (dronacaria) were the first one that gave me a trophy and it was very gratifying. It´s very nice, transmit respect and friendship. I will give trophies from now on.

BTW... I've gotten 3 people to join Chess.com so far.  How do I get those "Successful referral" trophies?

I don't really give trophies and I feel mostly indifferent when people give them to me.

I do give a return trophy if someone gives me one though.  Most of the time.
