Well, I am OK with a few ads at my chess.com IF the deals offer some solid value for me! I get a bit annoyed when I get an ad for, say, chess pieces but the offer isn't valid!

Huh?

The ad said: Special Deal Today (Thursday)

When I click on the fine print I get an error message saying that the deal is valid on Thursdays only. Yeah, simple Time Zone issues but I really do not like to be distracted by non-valid offers.

Some of the deals offered have had zero value for non-US customers since the shipping fees were simply amazing!

I would love to see deals that would be of some use for non-US members. Especially since premium members have been offered "no ads" as part of the membership deal.

yeah, I turned off ad-block plus for this site when I became a premium member, this kinda feels like chess.com is going back on their word, the special book offer was okay and only slightly annoying, but this makes me downright peeved

It's one ad people! How can you guys really get upset by this?? That money you shell out for membership isn't just to have an ad-free experience, ya know. Get up off your high-horse, sit down to some Tactics Trainer, and cool your jets.

Also, farbfor, what did you expect to pay to ship something 6,000 miles? It's going to be semi-expensive, even if you're sending a simple letter.

if you hover over the NO ADS" on the membership page it says: Premium Members will not see any external ads on Chess.com (other than the main homepage) and will see very few internal ads (announcing new products and services).

* Farbror, i've mentioned to erik about the time zone issue.

we are not a part of WholesaleChess.com, so i can't comment on shipping. it might be quite expensive. not sure. you'll have to add it to your shopping cart to check prices.

Why are people complaining that the ad is on the main page?

like come on.. you rarely ever go to the main page (atleast i know i never do unless i am just going on chess.com)

even if you a paying member, dont complain about the 1 ad and just on the main page..

Also these sites are always rip offs to me because its never a special sale.. its always an expensive shipping + handling.
