Over the board, we are supposed to make first 40 moves in 2 hours. I have noticed that I take too much time on every move. Now essentially I play to have fun and improve my game. Ofcourse I enjoy more when I win, but it is no excuse for wasting my time by staring at the screen when I have more important things to do - and yet I can't drag myself away.

I suggest chess.com adds a feature where a player's online time spent on a game is  tracked and the game is lost if it does not follow chess rules. That way players like us will be forced to play faster and helped in not wasting time.

I think many players will use this option.

Why not just shorten your game time? Unless I'm misunderstanding your problem.

I just mean when you start a game.... For correspondance, the minimum time per move is 1 day.  If you want to spend less time on than that on a game you should probably be playing live chess.  I think you can even go down to a minute for a super blitz game.

Again, maybe I'm misunderstaning the problem.
