Hey everyone, I haven't ever intentionally used any type of timeout in any of my games yet somehow i have a 37%. Does anyone know how to lower that immediately? its very annoying i cant join any tournaments because of it.

    Thanks for the help

A timeout means that you do not make a move in the required time. To lower this you must play more games without timing out.

You haven't done it intentionally, but it has still happened. The timeout limit in tournaments is in place so people who time out very often don't do so because people want to actually want to play the games. I know that since you're premium you won't time out very often, and you probably don't anymore. Unfourtanately, there really is no way to lower your timeout percentage instantly other that resigning all your games, which I don't think you'd want to do.

Other than starting again with a new account, you can't lower it immediately.  If you could it wouldn't serve the purpose it is intended for, which is to protect me from wasting my time with someone who is very likely to time out.

alright, so if i play more games will it lower it faster or no?

It should lower as long as you don't time out. It will take a while, but eventually it should decrease to under 10%

you have to play 408 games without a single timeout to get down to 10% if my math is correct.

    poor guy,

    I have teh same problem,

Why did you get a new chess.com account??

It's faster and easear than play alot of games...

How many games did you have?

If you have 10 it's only needed another 10 games to reduce the time outs , if not you are in a big trouble to get it down...

From Tournament Help on creating tournaments.

Premium Members must meet the following criteria:

    • Must have at least a 10% win ratio.
    • Must have no more than a 15% timeout ratio.

    56 timeouts / 362 games completed = 15.4% which rounds to 15%.

If you can get to 362 (maybe 363) games completed with no more timeouts you can create your own tournaments where you set the timeout limit to 15% so you can join.

Until then look for member-created tournaments where the timeout limit is set higher than the default 10%. Try here. There may be others.

Edit: Though I would mention the "Must have at least a 10% win ratio" is probably not enforced since drive-by basic members can create tournaments without playing a game.
