So I started chess.com in January and shortly after i decided to get a diamond membership. I noticed that after that i had a bunch of vacation time. I never thought I would have to use the time upon seeing that. But then I started getting less internet access which eventually led to no internet access at all. At this point my vacation time ran out and i lost a whole 60 games because of it, some which were in tournaments. But nonetheless, I paid for an entire month of diamond membership on chess.com with no activity on my account. Eventually I got and android phone and got the chess.com app and started playing again with a rating about 300+ points lower than what I had the last time I used this website. Very shortly after that I wanted to join a few turn-based tournaments and maybe start my own one but everything kept saying my timeout ratio was way too high! I hadn't abused my vacation time on purpose and I had still been paying for my membership even though I was inactive. At this point my timeout ratio is getting lower but it's still at a horrible 19%. Most tournaments require 10% or lower (I've been able to join one) and in order to start a tournament as a diamond member i have to be under 15%. I really think there should be some kind of forgiveness by chess.com in cases like mine.
I think this article could help you to get more vacation time. I understand your concerns but there isn`t much you can do about it. Whenever there is a rule there are innocent innocent victims. I`ve just seen your profile and it seems you lost all those games in the first week of May. The timeouts ratio is counted for the last three months which means you will be able to join/create tournaments in a couple of weeks.
i can't wait for that to happen.
nah, pay good money for the time out and use it...but not abuse it.
Why can't you wait a measly two weeks to get back into tournaments?
If you buy tickets to a concert and your car breaks down on the way there, you don't get a refund on the tickets. They held up their part and put on the show, and it's not their problem you couldn't make it. You paid for a service you didn't receive, but that was due to problems outside their control; they did everything on their end and aren't responsible for your problems.
Erik might still help you out though, just because he's a pretty relaxed and cool dude.
i meant as in i'm excited...not that i'm gonna quit or anything like that. :p
Ok, cool... like I say erik is a hoopy frood but I think you may just have to wait a couple weeks to do tournaments. In the meantime you can practice for them.
Practice is awesome!
