I'm new to chess.com site.  I usually play over at letsplaychess.com.  Are there tournaments, pyramids, or any other team chess options here, or is it simply straight playing?

I play on chessworld.net (aka letsplaychess.com), so I know where you're coming from. Currently this site only runs individual games. Games, as on Chessworld, are rated and unrated, but no pyramids, teams, tournaments (specialised or otherwise)...though there's nothing to stop a group of likeminded players making mutual challeges (white and black) and keeping track of points offline, by e-mail etc.

 

I asked pretty much the same last week. responses I got indicated there are things in the pipeline wrt live chess and tournaments. I guess we have to just wait and see. Incidentally, I am more taken with this site the more I look around it so I'm sure you'll like it.

Yes, the Chess.com staff is working on bringing live chess to the site at the moment. After that is completed having tournaments is one of the next things on the "to do" list.

I have played at a lot of the other chess sites (chessworld.com, gameknot.com, redhotpawn.com), but am very taken with this site.   In fact, I think I am in danger of timing out on my other games at another site if I don't get over there and make a move...

So has there been any more movement on tournaments, etc?
