Unsporting Behaviour Needs to be Punished.

I was playing someone who wouldn't resign. I was SUBSTANTIALLY ahead.

This person says that he is leaving in Romanian, 'pa' ( = Bye in Romanian ) and goes afk for 12 minutes. Then makes a move with 10 seconds left on the clock. ( I assume that because I checked at 1 minute 30 then just left for good ).

He then moves and I lose.

FIRSTLY.. I can't play another game of Online chess without forefeiting. So he ties me up for 12 minutes. Then he makes his move to preserve his rating. Its pathetic.

I hope some of you leave notes on his wall and shame him. It really annoyed me. Not because I lost, but because someone had the audacity to be such a cheat.

I looked at his other games and he doesn't resign in any of them. The two matches he has drawn are because of stalemate. Hes just a really bad sport.

    Hey Chris

This does seem lame to me.  You don't have to resign in any game but then seeing that you have him substantially beaten in material alone is unsettling? I'd agree he is a bad sport. How then does the timing work if he won on time?  I haven't played anyome here yet so I don't know.

Happened to me many times before.

But we shouldn't shame him, he could just be 5 or something(and have a Romanian Origin).

    DON'T SHAME 5-YEAR-OLDS.

dude if you lost on time it's your fault lol.  If your opponent goes away for 10 out of his 10.1 minutes and you aren't paying attention you DESERVE to lose I mean come on man he was playing a mind game with you that's just part of chess and HE(or she) WON.

Hey! Be nice.  1400 isn't that bad, some of us can't put any time towards studying chess!

Ppl do this trickery to win.

Erase it from your mind forever, and move on.

i kind of agree with tony.  it is legitimate to lose on time, and it's also legit to play mind games to force your opponent to lose on time.  the fact that you were low on time means he still had a chance to win, which he took.

rich, your chess skills are as respectable as your grammar skills.

Just grow up you little boy and stop delighting in finding someone you think isn't as good as you in chess. In a month or two he is likely to out-rate you in any case.
