I keep seeing endless complaints about people putting themselves on "vacation".
People, this site is the equivalent of correspondence chess. The fact is that the constraints of real life often need to take priority, given that the games here can last for days or even weeks at a time.
While I have not yet needed to put myself out on vacation, I know that it will inevitably happen at some point due to extended business travel (or real vacation!).
When it does eventually happen, it will not be rude, disrespectful or cowardly of me - it will be both legitimate and necessary, and that's that. Why is that so hard for so many people to deal with?
Will I resign my games rather than use this site feature, as some bright spark suggested? Of course not!!
However, what I WILL do is politely inform each of my opponents, individually, that I will be out on vacation, why (i.e. it may not be vacation but business!), and how long it will last. This would seem to be the most elementary of courtesies. If more people observed this small effort of communication, maybe there would be fewer complaints around the whole topic.
Enjoy your games, relax, and if one of your opponents is out on vacation then play somebody else...
that is a feature for premium members :)
totally agree
Cool. I was wondering about that. Thanks.
well, maybe on second thought, just get your credit card out, and pay erik the money he asks for, and don't send cows, chickens, donkeys or firstborn children to him. he would just have to sell those to pay the hired help, and you cannot sell kids legally.
That wouldn't be good. Erik could get arrested, and then what would happen to chess.com?
