What Browser to use for Mac OS X 10.4.11 ?

2 days ago chess.com staff did an upgrade for Live.

Since the  upgrade I haven't been able to log into Live successfully.

    Am currently on a Mac 0S X 10.4.11, using Safari 3.1.2

Before the upgrade I played regularly in Live with no issues.

Staff suggested using Safari 5.0.4 but this is not compatible with  10.4 .11, it's only compatible with the Intel Macs.

Anyone here on the same system as me and can get into Live without any issues ? If so, what browser are you using?

Hey ma'am, I'm having a problem not, using Windows 7 and for Web I'm using the last version of Mozilla Firefox :D Did you update your Safari? Deleted the cookies and everything? A suggestion, maybe you can try Mozilla Firefox =]

Hi Silvan, Mozilla Firefox recently upgraded their browser. I was able to use the old Firefox but since their new version was launched, the old version is  no longer compatitble with OS X 10.4.11. Safari upgrade 5.0.4 is also not compatible with  my system.

Chrome doesn't have a browser compatible either.

It's too late, I asked it too =D Maybe you must change the system?

To change the system I need to spend approx. $8000-$9000.. not prepared to do that at the moment.

Would need to upgrade my desktop computer, my laptop and also all my software.. The software I use is very expensive and I use several programs.

I know I will have to at some point later this year or next year, but can't do it yet. So just need a browser that will get me through til then.

I think Mac people tends to use Safari, if you have compatibility problem this is a thing that must be fixed soon

Babs I have exactly the same system as yourself, OS x 10 4 11, and find that I can play live about half the times I try, in the nuts tourney i just could not start a game with one of my opponents. I often lose the connection too. I have no idea why , but its obviously something to do with Safari.

Try emptying the cache, and trying again later on , you may find its possible then!

Thanks Mohamed, but you can only upgrade to 10.5.6 from 10.5.5, not from 10.4.11 :(

@Pabo..  I've only been using Safari lately

@Petit.. I did already to empty the cache but it didn't help.. but I haven't deleted the cookies. Will try that,  but not confident it will fix the issue..

It just seems more than a coincidence I only started experiencing issues after chess.com did the upgrade. I didn't  have any problems logging on prior to the upgrade.

Petit, what browser are you using.. if Safari, what version?

Thankyou Jim... I'll check it out in the morning. I'm running an old version now and that's been an issue, so not sure what will be right to download there.

I haven't tried going into Live from my laptop yet. If I can log in from there then it means it's an issue with my desktop Mac, if I can't then I  know for sure that it's a browser issue.
