I guess this applies to all unrated games but I don't play any of those except my Greeter games. In the Greeter games, I play openings I don't trust in rated play or am just unfamiliar with. In Greeters, I always play 1.....d5 in response to 1. d4 when I usually respond with 1....Nf6. I have been playing 1......e5 instead of my usual Sicilian in response to 1. e4 but starting now I play to bring out a dark knight and play 1......Nc6 for at least the rest of the year.
good idea to try out unfamilliar openings.I like playing greeter games because you don't know the level of the opponent.
That's true. While most games end after 1 move or less, I've had a few real battles.
