The Tour De France is underway and Lance Armstrong already has a slim 6 secondlead over his hated nemesis Alberto Contador. Can Lance defeat the great Spanish rider or are his best days behind himnow at age 38 and with 3 grueling weeks ahead of him? The race began witha 10-minute Prologue at a virtual sprint and continues tomorrow in the Netherlands. Lance is with his new squad Team Radio Shack and looked gritty and determinedas he raced through the crowd but will desire be enought to overtake the incredible talent of the younger Contador? Only 3 weeks will tell.

Only the French could consider this an exciting sporting event. YAWN!
I am glad Lance Armstrong and that other guy proved that Americans could dominate that sport, so we never have to pretend to care about it again.

This will be a harder Tour de France as last year. More stages in the mountains. I guess he will not win the Tour anymore. 22sec (to Cancellara) in the prologue is nothing. But Contador is in the mountains stronger.
Anyway, Armstrong won the Tour 7 times in row. He has nothing to prove.

The rider I used to enjoy watching most was the great Spaniard Miguel Indurain (who won five times in a row 91-95). It was awesome to watch him ride past his rivals on the big climbs. Whilst they were out of the saddle and in absolute agony he would calmy ride past them, sat down and not a flicker of emotion showing. You could actually see the moment at which his rivals had their wills broken.

lance armstrong's greatest talent is his ability to avoid getting caught. that being said, of course he can win. dounbt he will though.

He does have the strongest team. I like his chances. It is a shame they did not have the Team event this year. He would have gained some time in that stage.
Lance Chances fell yesterday, he lost 2:08 Min to Schleck and 0:55 to Contador. Normally no reason for panic, but i guess it will be hard for Armstrong to repair this.

His time is past, his rivalry with Ullrich will be replaced by the competition between Contador and the Schleck brothers.
Yes, I agree!
After the 12. stage and + 21' 16" is the answer to the thread question: NO!!
Contador will make his 3rd
Enough Spaniards already! You won the World Cup and took the Men's trophy at Wimbledon... leave something for the rest of the world, this summer!
Mr. Schleck is still in the game. :) (but i guess, the most likely outcome will be a win of Contador)
