Euwe 1927 - Mate in 2:
Good to see your puzzles again. It took me several mis-steps to see this one. I should by now be conditioned to look for a queen-sac first. This time white makes an offer that black can't refuse - not when he is in zugzwang. Black has 3 alternative moves (actually more if you count all the squares the rook can move to on the 8th rank), but if he doesn't take the offered Q, Queen's next move is checkmate - and if he takes it, there is no escape from the c-file.
2. Rd6 is mate right?
No, Rxd6 and you lose the bishop
Should be mate in 2. The title is wrong.
It's mate in 3
This is a good one. You had to read the title and know that it was a "Mate in 3" puzzle. There are a number of good ways to mate-in-4 as others have shown.
Show us how.
Nice one for a Monday
Should be 3. Bc1# - mate in 3, not mate in 8.
cool.. good one!
nice & easy
All of the daily puzzles are easy!
A good reminder that a double check forces the King to move, thus negating the Knights coverage.
After rook to d7, what was wrong with rook to d6. Mate in 2.
other variant:1 Rd7+ Ke8 2 Rd6*
It's good, nice and easy :)
