Rats! I try to solve these things without looking at the hint. I found f4, which is mate in 3.

Doesn't 1. f4 any 2. f5+ gxf 3. exf checkmate also work?

I think the right solution is: 1. f2-f4 and 2.f4-f5#. The other solution is not actually mate in 2 if black moves 1... RxC2.

Have another look... 2. f5 lets in gxf5. And Rxc2 doesn't prevent the mate: white doesnt have to take the rook. As you do more of these you will find that 1/ most alternative solutions have been answered before and 2/ given solutions are very very rarely wrong . Good luck and enjoy.
