I think mate in 2 is better(and possible1.Qh6) than mate in 3.
1. Qh6 leads to ... Re1#
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!
Yep, that's right as Prince_roman wrote. And also if the black didn't have the rook lined up, opponent can also extend the game by just moving Qd4.
No, If the Rook at e8 were not on the board, then1. Qh6 Qd4 2. Qxh7#
On the other hand:1. Qh6 Qe4 2. Qxg7#
There is no escape for black once the white queen is at h6, but with the black rook at e8 white queen can only move from protecting the e1 square when doing so puts Black in check (forcing a move other than ... Re1#)

Here´s mate in 5

easy. why cannot be puzzles which have mate in 8 or more so that we can use our brains a little. these puzzles are for beginners..
As a beginner, I appreciate having an easy puzzle one day a week. New players taking up the game need to learn too. You may have popped out of your mother's womb as a grandmaster, but others toil at different levels.

why not 1Qh6 and then 2Qxh7 or 2Qxg7 would be checkmate.
Qh6 Re1#
