Andre Philidor: September 7th 1726 - August 31st 1795; was once the best players in the World. According to his fame; we have the checkmating pattern otherwise know as the Smothered Mate. The Smothered Mate is a common method of Checkmating. It occurs when a Knight Checkmates a King that is smothered (surrounded) by his friendly pieces and he has nowhere to move; nor is there any way to capture the Knight. Also know as Philidor's Legacy!
What opening does this arise from? Latvian Gambit?
