A good reminder of why we study openings.  And always good refreshers, too see it.

The key transition in the game occurs at move 4.  Instead of living with being down simply a pawn, black makes an error in judgment and attempts to stay equal by 4. ... Bxe4?? Instead, black could make it a bit more interesting with 4. ... Bd6 or Rfe8 attempting to momentarily exploit white's weak back rank.  It will probably be short lived because white can defend it easily by a dark bishop move off the back, but at least black will only be down a pawn with interesting center play, instead of a whole piece and hopelessly lost.

Why did the puzzle end there and not before/after? .... good puzzle: typical for a Saturday.
