Almost there ...... will I be 1st.......
Got it on my first try, mate if (white) Qf7+,(black) Kh8, then white queen takes knight, checkmate, right?
not a challenging one
Shouldn't that be "Excavating Enemy Territory"?
I'll get my coat.
easy , the first time
I've managed to lose my queen in a game with a similar board configuration.
A real puzzle. Mirko Marković, 2005 - White to play and win. Replay the puzzle to see some notes ("What if...?").
Nice start to the week.
mate in 3 1 Qxe8 any 2 Qxf7+ Kh8 3. Qxf7# if 1... Kh8 then 2 Qxf8#
you are mistaken, there is no mate in the near future, i see white getting up a rook from all this with a few different possible variations, black's first move would be Ng6. On a separate note, not that it matters much, but even if black starts by moving his king to the corner, white needs to more moves to mate: queen takes, and then black can block with knight, but hen NXf7 wins.
