I like the banter about continuing the attack, would have been helpful if that was added to the puzzle, after all it is Sunday and we do have time to think,,..

whats the meaning? what was the learning point of this puzzle?
Escavating = the escalated excavation of the opponent's chess pieces..."quick captures"...first coined at chess.com...
mate in 3 1 Qxe8 any 2 Qxf7+ Kh8 3. Qxf7# if 1... Kh8 then 2 Qxf8#
Ng6(any) will prevent mate in 3
@ MrWangler...he can block with Ng8
wtf? escavating is not a word!!! do they mean excavating?
too ez, they should atleast let up play till the checkmate
dude.....that was really basic
Others may have pointed this out, but:1. ... Kh82. Qxf8+ Ng8 (2, Qxf8 was not mate)
Someone else (icfseth) pointed out that 1. ... Ng6 protects against 2. Qxf8
i do believe there is a forced mate/smothered mate with 1.Qxf7 Kh8, 2. Qxf8 Ng8 3. Nf7# and if black holds on by playing Neg6 but then white does h6 and its lights out for black
But it wasn't 1.Qxf7 - it was 1.Qxe7, and black has better responses than 1....Kh8
