Does not Kb5 or Ka5 work on the fourth move?

Yes, I am quite sure they are equally effective.

It is on that fourth move that I would have played differently, perhaps blundered.
I would have played Kxc5, to be answered by
    4. ...  Kc7,
    5. b8=Q+   Kxb8,
    6. Kc6                    I would hope that I could then promote my a pawn and win.

I have to do more testing of that line   I know that (relative positions of two kings and pawn) would allow me to promote a pawn in the b,c,d,e,f, or g columns, but I am not sure about how it works with promoting on the edge columns.  Perhaps some of you end-game gurus could enlighten me on that.

Edge column pawn lead to stalemate if opposite king is in the way. Final position black King at a8 pawn at a7 and white king supporting pawn at a6 or b6. Black king cannot move.

Nice checkmate :)...I find it funny this came a bit after I was wondering with some friends what was the minimum points to checkmate. Luckily, this was the conclusion we came to after some thinking and trying

You must remember though that mating the king with pawns isn't technically allowed in USCF tournaments.
