Very Nice.. I love situations like this where an opponent tries to do something clever which ends up costing dearly because of these little suprises.

I swear to god, one of these days when i decide to read the comments below the puzzle, i will burst into flames when i read the "FIRST PAGE" comments.

The old "FIRST" ( referring to being the first one to comment ), at least was .. a bit of a challange. Getting on the first page? There's like 20 people on the first page and nobody gives a shit you're on it. PLEASE STOP IT FOR ALL OUR SAKES.

Why the hell does black move the knight?

They save the night, and lose a queen.. Why not just leave the night and lose it.. and still have a queen? (even if all in all they will lose the match)

Yes exactly. Bad move by black.

Agreed.  The whole point of the Daily Puzzle is that Black is to make the best moves possible to live as long as possible, even if it is just a matter of a couple of stalling moves to delay an inevitable Mate.

In this case Black is much better off giving up the Knight in order to save the Queen, because black will live at least another dozen moves or more.

As a result of the bad move by Black, here is one possible way that the game might play out e.g. a quicker death
