what if he takes out the rook with the king?

Call me silly, but just because the puzzle provides you with the steps doesn't mean it's always right.  In this example, the king could have taken the rook as opposed to the pawn doing the job.  I can't imagine subjecting the rook to that type of move.  Always looking for some thoughts?

1. Rxh6.. Kg8

2.Nxf6.. Kf7

thats a dumb move to make if you are white.. black should take the rook with the king instead of pawn and black should win
