For all the people saying Easy means they missed the real puzzle, and no surprise, Daily Puzzle the poster missed it too.  Its true, the provided mate in 3 here is easy, but they overlooked the move in which any decent player would of seen that mate, namely ... Kh8.  The real solution is a mate is 6 - thusly: -

It wasn't overlooked.  The discovered double check and eventual mate was already addressed in reply #44.

What first move did you have to lead to BxN being a check?  King isn't on that square once Rook takes on g7

Did Slipak slip-up ?  Didn't expect a championship player to walk into that !   Abiding by the principle that black should always fight to the last sqare, I chose 1...Kh8  2.Qxf6  h5  3.Qh6#     but much better is 2...Qf8  3.Rg8++  Kxg8   4.Bxe6+  Qf7   5.Qg7#  or 5.Qxf7#  (well spotted by another contributor).

Can anyone help me out - is the convention ++ still used to denote double-check ?  I never see it used, even by the puzzle setters.

      Regards...
