 I think what's next is 2. e8Q# , not exd8Q+ which is why Nd8 is not under consideration as a solution (i.e. it leads to mate in less moves).

 Yeah, I wanted to promote to rook.  I just like mating with the lowest possible ranking piece.  This puzz was almost Sunday quality, right out of Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess.  That book was page after page of Queen/rook column mates, with the king usually conveniently trapped in his castle.
