Now I understand.

Queens are useless, they do nothing but get in the way and litter and mess up the board.

Trash your Queen early and at the first opportunity - only then can your other pieces get on with the job of winning the game.

Don't underestimate the power of two nights in the endgame. I had a similar (but not as cool) mate a while ago.

I had initially thought taking with the bishop instead of knight would make a difference but clearly it did not. Really nice puzzle. I didn't solve it.
