hello hi ola buenos dias bonjour
Nice! Queen goes back to the same place.
Got it in first try :)
possibility mate in 3 with the queen next to the king in the third move, i think.
this is one of the neatest checkmates i've ever encountered. looking gloom for black, if he doesn't do something he is toast. i like the way he had to work the mate.
rxr sure is tempting...but the name of the game is mate not material advantage.the q. walk is quite instrutive-----
Not only does 1. Rxd8 not lead to checkmate, but it loses to 1...Nd3+.
With the moves black made, this is a mate in 5, and a pretty easy one at that. However, there are variations, with black making different moves, and I don't see white getting mate in 5 in every line.Maybe, I missed a good option for white, but in the line shown here, the best I could do was mate in 6.
Well, I DID miss a better option for white. RenataCFC points out that he had shown a better answer for 1. ... K6 in an earlier post. (I posted my comment without checking any of the prior posts). Anyway, RenataCFC responds with 2.g5+x which forces a much quicker checkmate. (2. ... Kxg5, 3.Qf4+ Kh5, 4.Qh4#) I missed that.
I apologize for filling the comments with a wrong line when the right one has already been shown. But, I do it rather selfishly -- it is more instructive FOR ME to give it my best shot and be corrected, than to simply see the correct line handed to me. Thanks, RenataCFC and others who have posted great comments. I'm glad to see an increase in the number/proportion of relevant comments about the puzzles.
Did you see my post from a couple pages back?
Agree with Renata. You have to force black to take on g5 and then get trapped on the 5th rank with 2. g5+ after 1...Kf6 in your variation. Renata has a great analysis setup a few pages back, you'll have to check it out.
