Rxg2 followed by Rg8++ cooks this puzzle.

pretty clever, I'd simply go Rxg2 but that would be mate in 3 indeed.

I like rxg2. It is more straightforward and still leads to checkmate, though it takes an additional turn. But you also get the joy of taking another queen with your rook!

what birdbrain thought this one up? A promoted Q on G2 will check the white king, so the rook is pinned. Stoooopid - - -

I assume you mean Q on g1. Ne3 relieves the pin on the R and is the only mate in 2 solution.
