nice one but i already knew it
usually these puzzles are well thought out, but i seem to see another mate in 5, is there anything wrong with:
not saying that this puzzle isn't well thought out
1. Qe6+ Kh8
2. Nf7+ Kg8
3. Hh6+ Kh8
4. Qg8+ Rxg8
What was black's last move before the puzzle position?
A mouse slip?
That's the one that I saw first! glad I'm not the only one :)
yeah Nd8 in 3rd is a better idea
So classic. I haven't seen it enough times yet for it to be on full automatic, but the setup was evident. Love it.
Intuitive! Even i have got it from the first attempt!
I am very surprised that people are impressed by this combination, it is extremely common.
Everything's new to you once.
I like it, love the way the Knight was used.
Smothered mate. I've seen this so many times before.
really like the alternative solution.
Thanks for this beautiful thought ;-)
I like this kind of checkmate!
can i see the actual game here? nice puzzle!!
Unless i m wrong, this is a synthesis of Huan Ramirez Lucena dated back to 1497. Then, it was one of the most advanced ideas in chess, achieving the "etouffe checkmate". I think it would be polite to mention this information as a tribute to a legendary Spanish player of the romantic period of chess. Plus a good history lesson. Chess is not only calculation but also education.
