The Ice Queen is the Supreme Ruler and Being.
So out of practise. Got there in the end.
Pretty easy puzzle
You also have 3. Qe6#
What a waste of time...
What black plays 1. ... Nb6+ instead of 1. ... Kc6 ???
dang, didn't get that one.
Curiouser and curiouser.
One Of The Only Ones I Have Not Been Able To Do In A Long Time
If you didn't get this one, maybe you're looking for something too difficult.
Benny B's post, "Round and round" is a good hint
heh heh - guess it's all your perspective. I thought it was WICKED AWESOME but then I've only been playing chess for about a week...
Your line is flawed:
Black's 1. ... Nb6? is a poor move. It allows 2. Qe6#. But white doesn't take that opportunity. Instead he moves 2. Kb7 (an unnecessary wasted move). Black is helpless to prevent mate on the next move, but ...Bf6 would have prevented white's Qe5#. Might have been a good idea since white already missed Qe6# once; he might miss it again.
Black's best response to 1. Qf5 would be ... Nb4, leaving white's c5 knight protected only by the queen. It becomes an escape-square and vulnerable to capture in response to impending queen-checks.
EDIT - And I had already decided to ignore your postings - Then when I came back to see what's new, I saw this on the first page and forgot this was the person who posts so many flawed lines. -- at least this was about today's daily puzzle.
In addition to my earlier comment: "What if black plays 1. ... Nb6+ instead of 1. ... Kc6"??? "
My Crafty16.19 shows even better.. 1. Nxb4 !
There is no way a mate in 3 unless black wants to commit sucide with Kc6
With all that material, you could easily win.
Why not Qa6?
SPOILER ALERT: 1. Qf5! Kc6 2. Qd7+ Kb6 3. Qb7#
