Should have been obvious from the beginning: In the end, the White Knight always gets the glory and they live happily ever after, whoever they are.
You need to chill out mate. It's not real,
1st again (well i was the 1st one to get it after 4 pm)
You can be first if you want 'willmac 12'. But you're going to have to get up very early in the morning.

I got it right, but what was wrong with Qf8 though?
tswayd
Actually anything black does will get him in checkmate so nevermind.

It was...interesting.
I found that you could have just taken the Queen, couldn't you, with the Bishop?
Also you could have checkmated before...
stephen_33
No, the bishop at e8 is pinned in place by the rook at d8 !

Checkmate without a sacrifice? How unique!
:-D
Yeah...

In your "more obvious and forcing variation", after 2 Qf7+, black plays 2...,Qxf7. There's nothing forcing about it.
I like how everyone else keeps reposting the puzzle with different variations. While it's helpful to see that there would be many ways to win if this were a real game, the goal of the puzzle is to find the only line that checkmates in three moves.
