Not bad for a Monday - can't remember seeing that combo' of moves before although I've seen plenty like it. Probably explains why it took me a while. Re8 was tempting but I resisted for once.
Another fascinating puzzle by Deltaquad (post #15). I really wish we could have some more like this on the daily puzzle thread - perhaps one per week ?
I think I've covered all the alternatives:-
Perfectly constructed as always - nothing left to chance & black has no defense.Edit: Just realised I completely missed a defensive move by black - f5 !Not a problem since white answers with 2.Ne6# but it shows the first move has more purpose than just clearing a path for the white queen & so 1.Nd4 only will do.Deltaquad points this out in his post #165 later in this thread.I love puzzles that keep on giving

Very interesting puzzle.
Re8+ is more immediately obvious and also works.
Sorry scorpion but you didn't - read the thread. 3.Qc8+ is answered by 3...Qxc8 then white brings up the remaining rook on the fourth move.
Re8 is also a solution
