dumor, it is just an alternate move. You could choose other move, but after white Nd4, you will be checkmated in the next white's move. This is a Mate in Two problem.

I feel ya FM Gauranga i actually saw the Deflection Re8+ move first so if it's a puzzle with multiple tactical possibilities then either choice should be playable. Makes people think the tactic they would use in this situation would be wrong and thats not good
