there is also a mate in four: Re1+ Qxe1 Qf2 Kh1 Qf1+ Qxf1 Rxf1 mate. But this way is one move quicker.
why not do 1. Re8+ Qxe8 2. Qc7+ Ka8 3. Qc8+ Qxc8 4. Rxc8#?
I found the mate in 4 instead, with Rook to the back rank.
Why do in 4 moves what only takes 3? BTW if they had called the puzzle mate in 4 then you would be on the right track.
difficult to discover but I like it
1.Re8+ Qxe8 2.Qc7+ Ka8 3.Qc8+ Qxc8 4.Rxc8# works too. Maybe it's longer,but it doesn't matter. And white was basically won in this position.
Saw it in a second.
Pretty easy i liked detaquads though
theres also this mate in four that i saw first
1.Re8+ also mates, but I guess it takes one move longer after 1...Qxe8 2.Qc7+ Ka8 3.Qc8+ Qxc8 4.Rxc8 mate. I prefer puzzles that don't have multiple solutions of roughly equal value.
But then it isn't a mate in three, is it?
I also saw that mate first
Nice one, that would have been easy to miss in a game.
