how to sacrifice rapidly to win
Standard text mating pattern.
Also, easy puzzle.
I got no moves wrong
A clasic one.
Doing a queen sacrifice is getting old, took me about 5 sec to figure out because so far they have been doing a queen sacrifice all the time!
Interesting - Thursday, and a mate in 3 that is easier (more obvious) than yesterday's mate in 2 puzzle. Yesterday, I saw the "solution" only because I knew it was to be a mate in 2. In a game I would probably have followed a different (much longer) mating line rather than the queen sacrifice. Today the first move was screaming to be played - even a neophyte like me would jump to play it. Then it becomes a "mate in 2" and again a queen sacrifice is the solution, but the queen sacrifice is more obviously the first strike of a one-two punch. Rather than pulling a defender out of position (a bit of sophistication), it simply forces the opposing king into an inescapable position as easy target for my rook.
THIS sequence I would have played in a game, and probably seen the whole line from the start.
Thanks. It was easy but made me think about queen sac and knight play. Good practice.
Anastasia's mate ? I've read that somewhere before but didn't know what it was. Not difficult but novel for me - like the way the knight checks the king & covers his escape square at the same time.
I think the grandmaster is right.
Nice but easy one :)
Some are sooo full of themselves. As for me, Thank You Chess.com for another puzzle that was challenging enough to make us think and still achievable.
Totally agree, wish the boasters would shut up, what with it's so easy a 3 year old could do it blah blah and I'm 1st! 1st! just annoying. I thought today's was pretty good, once I found the 1st move the rest fell into place
