first! that was pretty stupid lol..
this taught me so much :D
White has a chance to stop the pawn if he declines with 1...Kc3: 2. a2 Rd7+ (if 3.Kc6, hoping for 3...Rd6+ 4. Kb5, then 3...Rd8 awaiting a skewer at Ra8+ if black promotes)
Otherwise White's rook can continue to check black's king until it is able to get to the a file and stop the pawn
I wonder how many beginners would still fail to promote for the win.
Edit: I see Queenpin has already warned against careless play by Black.

I disagree. 2... a2 3. Rd7+ Kb6 4. Rd6+ Kb5. Here, white cannot check the king without losing the rook and the while king is still at c3 (a1=promotion) next.
You're right NinjaBear... guess I'm just trying to squeeze something out of a boring puzzle
a) perhaps you mean threefold repetition
b) you're just plain wrong.
Since the puzzle is apparently simple it would be more fun if the Title were not to lead us on!
May be it could go like "black to play and gain an advantage" I know this is not perfect but something in that direction would be better than the title of today's puzzle.
Other than that the puzzle is great.
weak shiett. my worst moves are daily puzzle problems
stupid puzzle
way to eazy
