In order for black to get out of this situation, they would need to sac at least two majors, and that still guarentees a stretched and divided defense, if it could be called one. Pretty decent one today.

The anonymous Ra1 enters the battle with devastating effect. There are an aboundance of possibilities in the original position, making something likely to work but what?

Noteworthy is that white is up a piece, so to retreat without losses would likely lead to an evantual win. Unfortunately, this isn't so easy as a full 3 of his pieces are under immediate fire, most problematically the rook hangs for free.

Another point to note is that there is a certain amount of pressure on the f7 square, in particular as the queen can join quickly on d5. If so 1.Rxf7 is the most likely start. It is easily seen from the reasoning that 1...Rxf7 2.Qxd5 wins at once (black cannot pile up any more defenders on f7). That leaves 3 viable replys: 1...dxc4, 1...Kf8 and 1...Be6.

After a lot of thinking time, I concluded 1.Rxf7 dxc4 2.Rxf8+ Kxf8 3.Qd5! threatening 4.Rf1+ to likely win. Before ascertaining, lets check the other options.

On 1...Kxf8 2.Qxd5+ is natural. Black can reply with Kg6 and Ke7, neither which is obvious to refute, even if the king look vulnerable.

1...Be6 2.Rxf8+ Kxf8 3.Nxe6+ pretty much has to win - at least on material but the initiative is strong too. Nothing to worry about. Nonetheless, a daunting task of straightening out the queston marks of this move remains. It's promising in all lines, but do we have anything simpler? The king march line need looking into here as black is up the exchange in it. On 2...Ke7 I now noticed that 3.Nd4! looks dangerous, as the bishop is bound to the protection of e6 and thus can't help against the fork on c6. Even then, the black king is short on squares - 1.Rxf7 Kxf7 2.Qxd5+ Ke7 3.Nd4! Qc7 4.Nc6+ forces black to yield queen and game! 2...Kg6 I cannot find a concrete refutation of, but even though there are no follow-up checks available I might well play 1.Rxf7 on faith anyway. Hopefully there is something in there. I can't see anything more promising anyway, so what the h***, let's try it!

Yes, correct move! Admittedely I have to deduct points for not securing the win against the king march line. Everything else help up to a computer check however. 12 min, 83% found. Acceptable.
